Impassioned plea to help save Starbeck Gala
For three years the Starbeck Gala and Lights Committee have managed to operate without a chair, but now that their current treasurer and interim secretary Phill Brownley is stepping down after years of dedicated service, Starbeck's cherished Gala tradition may not happen this year.
The committee is urging Starbeck to save their Gala and help to keep decades of fond memories alive.

"We need all of the committee positions to be filled. I stepped in as secretary when our previous secretary stepped down last year, and I have also been treasurer to help keep us going. I have enjoyed being a part of it and it would be great to find people who will enjoy it just as much as I have.
"I just hope people will come forward and go to the AGM, the Gala is a great Starbeck tradition.
"If no one comes forward it's unlikely that we will be able to have a Gala this year.

This is not just about the Gala either - if we don't hold the Gala this year, it will have a knock-on effect for the Starbeck Christmas lights.
"To fund our Christmas lights we rely on the Gala being a success. If you become part of our committee, you also help to provide our lights that people enjoy every year."
Can you help save Starbeck Gala? The AGM will be held on March 28 at the St Andrew's Church Welcome Centre in Starbeck, 7pm. Email [email protected] to find out more about the committee positions.
