Running until Saturday, this witty black comedy by French writer Yasmina Reza won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy in 2009, before going on to win The Tony Award for Best Play, too.

The New York Times Review went as far as to describe the play as “the ultimate comedy of manners without manners.”

Director Judi Kenley said: “I love Christopher Hampton’s translation of the play. He has very cleverly retained a sense of the French language within the English version. The script takes a simple, everyday incident and develops it into a full blown breakdown.”

The fun begins when two young children have a minor fracas. The aggrieved youngster’s parents, Veronique and Michel Vallon (Clare Evans Argent and Bill Crewe), invite the parents of the other child, Alain and Annette Reille (Stuart Newsome and Pip Robinson) to their home with the intention of having a civilised discussion about the incident - but it doesn’t stay civilised for long.
