New award coup for Ramus, kings of seafood
Based on Kings Road in Harrogate, Ramus Seafood Emporium is now hoping to one better.
Jonathan Batchelor, managing director of Ramus, said: “We’re delighted. The nomination shows that customers have really responded to the quality and breadth of our new Wild Catch range and the seasonal recipes in our cookbook FORTY, which we published to celebrate our 40th anniversary last year.”

Hide AdEstablished by Chris and Liz Ramus in 1974, the renowned shop and seafood supplier opened the doors of its first shop on Otley Road, Harrogate in 1975.
With its reputation building and Harrogate clamouring for Ramus’s fresh fish and lobster, the company moved to new premises on Kings Road in 1983.
Able to supply both its loyal Harrogate customers, as well as many of the finest restaurants and professional kitchens, Ramus’s reputation continued to grow beyond the town and across the whole of Yorkshire.
In 1999 Ramus moved from a partnership to a limited company, with directors Jonathan Batchelor and Tony Rushton taking a share of the company and securing its future.
